You stay in beautiful locations and unique and stunning properties, with yoga twice a day, veggie/vegan food provided throughout (meat is an option in some locations and you can have it on nights/ lunches out). Everything is organised for you so you don’t have to think and you can feel safe, to give you the opportunity to meet like-minded people, connect to others and yourself through yoga and be in nature so that you can reset and go home feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
We run 3 night weekend retreats and 4 night mid-week retreats in the UK that have an activity such as hiking or walking, sea swimming, wild swimming, SUP and more plus yoga twice a day in beautiful locations and veggie/vegan food. There is time for yoga twice a day, time for a fun activity to connect with like-minded people and then there is downtime to relax and reset. It is your break so do as much or as little as you like!
We run between 4 – 7 night activity and adventure-based yoga holidays in Europe that will have a selection of hikes and walks, culture, swimming, skiing, white water rafting, surfing, horse riding and more plus 2 yoga classes a day in beautiful locations with veggie and vegan food (some venues offer meat if they are providing the food).
We run 9 – 11 day long haul yoga holidays to bespoke locations that are thoroughly researched and planned to create the best experience with a combination of activities, culture, rest and relaxation in sometimes more than one location in the country you are visiting.

The Yoga
What type of yoga do you teach?
For more information on the type of yoga we will be teaching, please visit the specific retreat page, or teachers pages here.
At our yoga retreats, we offer a variety of Yoga practices to cater to different preferences and experience levels. In the mornings, we typically offer a more energising and dynamic class that would be in the styles of vinyasa flow/hatha flow/hatha/a variation of Ashtanga but not the primary series yoga class to warm and enliven the body and mind and prepare participants for the day ahead. In the evenings, we typically offer a yin and/or restorative yoga class with yoga nidra to promote deep relaxation and stress reduction. Each of our teachers has their own unique style of teaching, which adds to the diversity and richness of each retreat experience.
Here are some of the specific styles of yoga that you may encounter at our retreats:
- Vinyasa yoga: A dynamic and flowing style of yoga that links postures together in a sequence, often synchronised with the breath.
- Yin yoga: A passive style of yoga that holds postures for several minutes at a time to target the deep connective tissues in the body.
- Restorative yoga: A gentle style of yoga that uses props to support the body in relaxing postures for extended periods of time.
- Hatha yoga: A general term that encompasses many different styles of yoga, hatha yoga focuses on physical postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama) to promote physical and mental well-being.
Are yoga mats provided?
We provide yoga mats and some equipment at our UK retreats and we offer yoga equipment at most of our abroad locations if the venue we are working with provides them. You can find out this information on the retreat page on the website in the ‘what’s included’ section and in your customer portal once you book.
The Guest
I haven’t done much yoga before/ I am a beginner to yoga, can I come?
We welcome all levels on our adventures. We have designed our weekends and weeks for people who love yoga, whether they are beginners or have been practising for years. All our teachers are experienced and are capable of adapting the classes to all levels. Our ethos is about being open & friendly and we welcome and have a lot of guests who are total beginners, some haven’t even been to a yoga class before joining us. There is so much to do hat you can join in as much or as little as you like in the classes.
I am quite an experienced yogi, would I enjoy your retreats?
In a word yes! All our retreats and holidays are suitable for those who have done little or lots of yoga. The teachers are very experienced and ensure that everybody in the group has their needs and expectations met over the time they are with us.
I’m a solo traveller, can I come by myself?
Yes, we welcome solo travellers…in fact, many people choose to come solo! It’s a great opportunity to meet new like-minded people, have time to yourself and explore a new destination at your own pace.
Are men welcome?
We get asked this all the time, and of course, the answer is yes. We know that our website features a lot of women but we do have men join us on most of our retreats and holidays. We promise you are very welcome.
I’m pregnant, or might be by the time of the retreat, can I book?
Please let us know on enquiry if you are pregnant so that we can ask the yoga teacher if she is able to support you. We do request that if you are pregnant you have experience of either yoga or pregnancy yoga so that you are already aware of the variations you can do in class.
If you have booked and then afterwards become pregnant, please let us know as soon as possible and also of your yoga ability so that we can speak with the yoga teacher to make sure she has the right experience/qualifications/insurance. We will work with you to create a safe and personalised yoga plan that is tailored to your specific needs and stage of pregnancy.
Please note that the decision to travel during pregnancy is up to your discretion and should be made in consultation with your healthcare provider and the yoga teacher or Adventure yogi is not liable if something was to happen. They can assess your individual health and provide guidance on whether flying or participating in a yoga retreat is appropriate for you.
I would like to book for a group/take over a whole retreat, can I do this?
Yes you can! If you are a group booking (2+) we can accommodate you, and if you would like to take over a whole retreat for your own group or for us to arrange a bespoke retreat we can do this also. Simply email [email protected] and we can get started.
What’s a typical group like?
Ah this is a difficult one! We love that people of all walks of life join us on our retreats, so it is hard to sum up a typical group. However, there are a few things that unite all of our groups: they tend to be made up of friendly, like-minded people, solo travellers, couples, friends and groups, people are respectful of each other and people are looking to relax in an active way, so they enjoy the great outdoors, experiencing new cultures and places and seeing beautiful things in nature so that they can unwind and have fun in a safe, welcoming setting. It’s a real mix of ages, and we love this as you can learn so much! Our groups are from 25 – 65+ but our main age group is 30 – 55. Some people come solo and meet new friends with a shared love of yoga, health, travel and being active and then re-book again together as AY travel buddies!
How many people do you have in a group?
We run such a range of retreats in different venues, but it starts at about 8, and can go up to about 19. We have been doing this a while so have learnt a really good balance, and the groups always feel intimate, with enough staff to make sure you are well looked after.
The Food
What is the food? veggie/vegan/meat?
We are a vegetarian company based on the yoga diet and a veggie/vegan diet will help you feel energised, focused, and ready to immerse yourself in the practice of yoga, health and wellbeing. We know that retreats have evolved and we get asked about serving meat but we have decided to stay as a vegetarian company to stay true to the yoga diet, and also because of our sustainability principles to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum, as this is something we can do to help.
If you are travelling with us to one of our abroad destinations and the accommodation is a hotel or guest house, there may be a choice of meat and veggie/vegan as that is what they serve. Please note that, on our abroad retreats, we sometimes have the opportunity to eat out at local restaurants, where you can sample authentic dishes that may include meat options.
I have specific dietary requirements, can I still come?
Yes – our wonderful vitality chefs can cater to any dietary requirement. We are vegetarian/vegan on our retreats and holidays but we can cater for dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and coeliac. If you are coeliac and However when you go out for group meals on our holidays, some people do choose fish and meat options.
I am a meat eater so I am nervous about a veggie/vegan diet, what can I do?
If you are a meat eater, fear not! We get emails from guests all the time voicing their concerns here, and then they go on the retreat and they are blown away by the creativity, taste and nourishment of the veggie/vegan diet and come home inspired. If you are craving meat on a retreat we recommend you bring some meaty snacks that we can keep in the fridge for you in the UK. If it is an abroad holiday on some trips not all meals are included in the itinerary so you can find a nice cafe/restaurant and have a meaty meal to get your fix!
A typical day of food on an AY retreat
We provide a mix of veggie and plant-based meals. Breakfast is typically vegetarian, with cow’s milk or plant-based milk for your tea or coffee, natural yoghurts, savoury and sweet options and eggs on some days. Lunch and dinner are plant-based and lunch will either be a packed lunch if out and about or a selection of warm or cold salads/soups depending on the season. Dinner is two courses, a main with a variety of dishes and a dessert. We are low in sugar and have pre-yoga snacks in the morning and post hike/activity snacks in the afternoon. Fruit and herbal teas/coffee/tea are available throughout the day.
What meals are included?
In the UK all meals are provided. Abroad it will depend on the location. It is usually all breakfasts included, some lunches and most dinners except one where you can go out and experience the local area. The best thing to do to find out is go to the ‘what’s included’ section of the holiday/retreat page to find out more.
Can I purchase/drink alcohol on the retreat?
At Adventure Yogi, we have a different attitude to UK and abroad retreats and holidays. In the UK we encourage not to drink alcohol, as it is a short break and it is an opportunity to have a break from the norm and feel the benefits of the yoga, the food, being in nature and good sleep. If however you really would like a drink it is also ok too.
On our holidays abroad, it is a holiday, not a retreat, you have chosen AY because we are relaxed and if you would like a drink this is fine. We do ask that excessive alcohol consumption be strictly prohibited on all Adventure Yogi retreats. We prioritise the safety, well-being, and respectful environments of all participants. If you have any concerns or questions about alcohol consumption before or during your retreat, please feel free to contact us directly for further clarification.
The Adventure
Do you have private rooms? What about twin sharing rooms?
We offer a variety of room options, including single occupancy rooms, so you can have your own private space to relax and unwind. We also offer twin room options, exclusively for guests of the same sex, and although initially, many guests are apprehensive about sharing with another yogi, we always receive overwhelmingly positive responses from our guests who choose to do so, many come away with long-lasting friendships.
If you’re thinking about coming to an Adventure Yogi retreat by yourself, we encourage you to go for it! It’s an experience that you’ll never forget.
