7 Nights Hiking & Yoga Holiday in La Rosiere French Alps
Join us on our 7 night hiking yoga holiday in the French Alps. This retreat will be full of adventure, with three guided hikes in the mountains, and a transfer to Bourg Saint Maurice where you can take part in activities such as white water rafting or cycling. Amongst the adventure you will be staying in wellness apartments where you can relax in the sauna or swim in the pool.
We are so excited to return to the French Alps again this summer for our summer hiking yoga holiday. New for 2024, we are in one of our favourite locations in the French Alps, La Rosiere. To make the most of our La Rosiere hiking holiday, we suggest being an experienced hiker with a good fitness level, as the elevation gain and altitude are very high. This is an active yoga holiday, as all our yoga holidays are, and you are welcome to do as much or as little as you like.
We have chosen this area because we love the Tarantaise Valley and its offerings. You will stay in the same wellness apartments we use for our ski yoga holidays. They are centrally located in the small village of La Rosiere, right at the foot of the ski lifts and slopes, so you can easily access the mountains. This means the elevation is already 1850m, with panoramic views of the whole valley and a stunning sunset every evening.
The first hike on your 7-night yoga retreat in La Rosiere will be beginner-level and low elevation, warming your legs for the harder hikes to come. The second hike will be long and have a medium elevation. The final hike will be high in elevation, around 2400m, and long in length. We also offer an optional extra sunrise hike at Lance Branlette.
The apartments have views of the whole valley, and one has an outdoor terrace. Shops, cafes, and supermarkets are right next door. The apartments have a wellness centre with a 15-meter swimming pool, sauna, steam room, solarium, and spa with massage treatments.
This summer, your week hiking retreat in the French Alps will centre around being in nature, hiking to high peaks and enjoying a packed lunch with stunning views and a dip in glacial lake at altitude. Enjoy an outing to Bourg-Saint-Maurice for those who would like to feel exhilarated with some white water rafting, take a bike out or relax by the 50m outdoor pool. There is plenty of time to wind down and relax, read a good book, enjoy the wellness centre, or have a massage.
The apartments are spacious, with a selection of single, twin, and double rooms. They have shared bathrooms and en-suite bathrooms. There are breathtaking views of the Tarantaise Valley on one side of the apartments and on the other, views of the mountains and greenery.
The hiking yoga experience in the French Alps and La Rosiere is a real adventure, and with local qualified mountain guides to show you around, you will reach new heights. Feel connected to nature and escape the heat of summer. There’s nothing like a hiking yoga holiday to exhilarate and enliven body and mind. If you aren’t an experienced hiker, we’d recommend going out on regular hikes before the retreat to prepare for the mountains of La Rosiere.
Yoga will be inside in one of the living spaces with views of the valley below. Feel revitalised by yoga in the morning with all yoga equipment in the evening to unwind and relax. For your French Alps yoga and hiking holiday packing list have a look here.

Ski yoga holiday accommodation
Our accommodation for 2025 is situated in a newly built wellness apartment hotel that is ski-in-ski-out situated right in the heart of the ski village of La Rosiere at 1850 metres above sea level. La Rosiere is south-facing and so are our apartments.
Because they are ski-in-ski-out – on arriving back from skiing all day you enter the locker room where you have a locker for the apartment where you can store your equipment overnight on warming boot driers so your kit is dry and ready for skiing the next day. No need to carry it up to the apartment.
You are based in a wellness apartment hotel which has a large swimming pool a fitness centre, a solarium, a sauna and a steam room. It is shared with the rest of the building. It is accessible from 10 am all throughout the day and evening. There is also a spa where you can book in a treatment and really pamper yourself.
The group size will be 13.
Apartment:
For 2025 we have two apartments that are situated next to each other. They have a selection of twin sharing and single occupancy rooms and there are a total of 8 bedrooms between the two.
One apartment living space will be used as the yoga space and the other the living/dining area where the group will gather for relaxation and all meals.
There are two single occupancy rooms with a double bed and en-suite and valley views. There is also a single occupancy room with a double bed, en-suite and no views.
Two twin rooms are en-suite with a valley view and three twins have a shared bathroom and no views.
Summer Hiking yoga holiday accommodation info:
We are in the same apartment building and we are staying in two apartments. One of them is the same as the ski apartment, with the yoga shala and views out to the valley below.
In this apartment, we have three single-occupancy rooms with an en-suite bathroom and two twin rooms with an en-suite bathroom.
The second apartment, the space where meals will be served and is the relaxation space, has a larger outdoor balcony perfect for relaxing after a busy day on the mountain. There are four single occupancy rooms, two with en-suite and two with a shared bathroom. There are two twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms. For those on a budget, there is a bunk room for 1 person with no windows, but you will be out all day so the price reflects this.

Sustainability
We are working towards reducing our carbon footprint, and here are some ways we, as a company, are doing this.
- We are an 88% vegan company, 10% vegetarian, and 2% fish or meat (only when staying in boutique hotels that offer these options). This makes up a huge percentage of carbon emissions that we avoid so easily because our food is still delicious, balanced, and even more creative. So, thanks to you all for enjoying our healthy (mostly) plant-based meals.
The difference: Most travel companies struggle to reduce their travellers’ meat and dairy consumption, which accounts for a large portion of their carbon emissions.
- We stay primarily in one location for the duration of the retreat. We have started staying in a few locations on our long haul, but it is limited to 2 or 3 locations over an 8 – 10 night period. Staying in one place means low carbon emissions because we aren’t burning fuel to get around.
The difference: Other adventure travel companies move around every two days, using alot of petrol in vehicles for sometimes only 1 or 2 people.
- Our activities are low-impact—yoga, hiking, surfing, skiing/boarding, whitewater rafting, SUP, and kayaking are all very low-carbon activities, in fact, zero-carbon (except skiing/snowboarding due to the ski lifts, which is also low). These activities are included in the price we measure. The carbon may increase with travel to and from these activities in vehicles.
The difference: Other travel companies can include high-carbon activities in the price, such as jet skiing, quad biking, and jeep driving, which increases their carbon footprint.
- We run more than half of our retreats and holidays in the UK; these are very low-carbon holidays.
We currently don’t measure our guests’ travel as part of our carbon output because our guests don’t only come from the UK, so it is hard for us to predict this. We also don’t include travel in the holiday price, which is not part of our calculations. We know that we provide these holidays, so we are looking to include this carbon measurement in the future to investigate how we can reduce this.
The carbon measurements at the top of the page with the icons are per person for the whole retreat.
Ultra-low-carbon holidays
These holidays are below 200 kg per person, and our UK retreats are below 100 or even 70 kg, so they are great adventures for low-carbon breaks.
Ski holidays are actually low in carbon!
In France, many ski resorts are turning to green energy to power the lifts. If you eat low in meat and dairy while you’re there and hire your ski equipment, this makes your trip as low-carbon as possible.
How can you help?
There are ways that you can help reduce your carbon when coming on our retreats and holidays:
- Travel by train, try slow travel across Europe and the UK.
- If travelling abroad to Europe or further afield, choose carbon capture schemes. Check out Ecologi. Offsetting is not the best thing to do these days, but try carbon capture, where you pay for carbon to be absorbed into the environment.
- Car share UK—We recommend that guests travel by train arrive and depart at the same time for taxi sharing, which helps keep costs and carbon emissions down. Why not consider car sharing, too? Most guests who drive come alone or with a friend; we have WhatsApp groups where you can see who is driving from your area, enjoy getting to know each other on the way to the retreats, and save on your carbon emissions at the same time!
We are by no means saints when it comes to producing carbon, as a travel company we know this is very difficult to reduce. We are working to reduce our carbon output each year by measuring it and then creating plans to reduce it. We are reviewing all our venues and asking them how they can improve their carbon reduction, as we don’t own any of our venues but would like to work with them to help in any way we can. We want to be transparent, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for more information. As we change things, we will update the website.
Beautiful France
Our France yoga holidays are situated in the stunning French Alps mountain range. We are based in La Rosire in the Tarentaise valley in winter and in summer we are further down the same valley near Moutiers for our hiking and yoga holidays.
Any part of the French Alps is breathtaking, with snowcapped mountains and glaciers all year round. We have explored many areas and we come back to this valley because it has so much on offer. The skiing is exceptional and great for all levels and the hiking is so vast and the views are awe-inspiring.
Being connected to nature is one of our values here because we know first-hand the benefits of it for mental health from our years of running retreats. And we wish to protect the planet also now more than ever and The French Alps are accessible by train from Europe and the UK to help do this.
Whatever season you prefer, The French Alps are a stunning location to enjoy yoga, healthy food, great company and your activity of choice so that you return home with your body mind and soul nourished.
In addition to yoga retreats in the French Alps, we will be running retreats in other locations in France so watch this space.
